How to Repackage and Sell Raw Materials with the Manufacturing Module #
If you run a business that involves buying raw materials in bulk and selling them in smaller units, you might wonder how to manage your inventory and accounting with the Manufacturing Module. We will show you how to use the Manufacturing Module to repackage and sell raw materials in different quantities.
For instance, let’s say you buy oil in tones/liters/containers and you want to repackage it into 1 liter, 500ml, 250ml, etc and sell them. Here are the steps you need to follow:
Step 1: Add the products in each quantity using the Add Product feature
First, you need to add the products that you want to repackage and sell in the Manufacturing Module. In our example, you need to add the following products:
– Product 1 – Oil (tones/liters/containers)
– Product 2 – Oil(1 liter)
– Product 3 – Oil (500ml)
– Product 4 – Oil (250ml)
Make sure to mark the main product, Oil purchased in tones/liters/containers, as “Not for Selling”. This will prevent it from showing up in the sales or POS screens.
Step 2: Add the recipe for each product
Next, you need to add the recipe for each product that you want to repackage and sell. The recipe tells the Manufacturing Module how much of the main product is needed to make one unit of the repackaged product.
In our example, you need to add the following recipes:
– For Product 2– Oil (1 liter), use 1 liter of Product 1 – Oil(tones/liters/containers) as the ingredient.
– For Product 3– Oil(500ml), use 0.5 liter of Product 1 – Oil(tones/liters/containers) as the ingredient
– For Product 4 – Oil(250ml), use 0.25 liters of Product 1 – Oil(tones/liters/containers) as the ingredient
Save the recipes after adding them.
Step 3: Add the production for each recipe
After adding the recipes, you need to add the production for each recipe. The production tells the Manufacturing Module how many units of the repackaged product you want to make from the main product.
In our example, let’s say you want to make 100 units of each repackaged product. You need to add the following productions:
– For Product 2 – Oil(1 liter), add a production of 100 units
– For Product 3 – Oil(500ml), add a production of 100 units
– For Product 4 – Oil(250ml), add a production of 100 units
The Manufacturing Module will automatically deduct the required amount of the main product from your inventory and add the repackaged products to your inventory.
Step 4: Sell the repackaged products
Now that you have repackaged your raw materials into smaller units, you can sell them from the Add Sale or POS screens. The Manufacturing Module will automatically update your inventory and accounting accordingly.
You can also track your profit margin for each repackaged product by using the reports feature in the Manufacturing Module.
Conclusion
The Manufacturing Module is a powerful tool that can help you repackage and sell raw materials in different quantities. By following these steps, you can easily manage your inventory and accounting with the Manufacturing Module.
